Blackberry Storm OS 4.7.0.83 Leaked

News, Technology No Comments

For those that want it… 4.7.0.83 has been leaked for the Storm.  People are reporting a lot of great improvements with this leaked update. Improvements to the camera speed and accelerometer is apparently even faster.

Personally, I will wait for an official release to install. Reading through the forums, I found that works at Verizon mention that there is supposed to be an official update released Tuesday night. So, it definitely isn’t much of a wait.

I will report on my experiences once the official release is out.

Update (12-27-08): Still no official release. But 4.7.0.85 has been leaked.

Black Friday… death toll: 3

News 1 Comment

As far as I have heard so far… 2 people shot and killed each other in a Toys R Us (over a personal dispute of some sort, not necesarily related to deals, but I don’t know) and a temporary employee was trampled to death at a Wal*Mart.

Holy shit.

No wonder the rest of the world hates America… we go fucking nuts over saving a little money. And there weren’t even any seriously good deals this year!

Obama Won!

News No Comments

I am personally overjoyed by this. We desperately needed change and we shall receive.

But I have to say something to all those people that didn’t want Obama to win. My observations are that most people that wanted McCain were picking him based largely on his stance on abortion. First of all, I have no respect for you picking a president based largely (or even solely) on the issue of abortion. I knew several people that put that issue aside for this election and focus on the burning building we’re trapped in right now, and I have all the respect for your view on the issue and congratulate you on recognizing what this election was truly about. Abortion is a much bigger issue that one election is NOT going to “fix.” Honestly, it will never be “fixed.”

I am pleased that the majority of America made the right choice. In fact, popular vote AND electoral votes were actually both for Obama this time… something that hasn’t happened for a while.

One last thing… stop saying “God help us.” It just makes you sound arrogant and leads me to believe you put too much trust in an invisible man… which just might have played a part in your prefered candidate losing.

Wordpress 2.6

News, Weblog No Comments

Wordpress 2.6 is out now. Not that I notice too much because I just use the svn anyway, but… I must comment on one of their stupid features.

It used to be… in some recent version (maybe 2.5 even) that I could go into the Plugins config page and if a plugin was out of date I could click “Upgrade Automatically” and it would be done very quickly. But NOW when I click it… it asks for FTP configurations… of which I do not and will not run on my server. What the hell happened? Why can’t it work like it worked before?? It clearly worked just fine… so wtf?

George Carlin

Life, News, Personal No Comments

George Carlin suffered a heart attack last night. This truly saddens me. George Carlin in my opinion is the best comedian of all time, or at the very least he is definitely up there. He changed the face of comedy with one of his famous stand ups – “7 words you can’t say on television.”

On a more personal side, George Carlin honestly changed my life. I have seen most, if not all, of his HBO specials and I can recite several of his speeches off the top of my head. He views on the world greatly changed mine to a much more laid back view. He also assisted in changing my view on religion– to which I personally want to thank him for. One of my favorite speeches is his “Religion is Bullshit” speech. Before seeing that for the first time, I was highly spectacle of religion but was completely foreign to the idea of not believing it, but seeing that speech, I started to really think and figure out exactly what I believe… which changed my life not only in the religion department, but just my own free thought on everything.

That said, I will truly miss George Carlin. I was always looking forward to actually go and see him live and every time I say I will do it next year. Each year I feared there wouldn’t be a next year because if you’ve seen him recently… he looked pretty old. I guess my chance to see him live is now gone.

R.I.P. George Carlin: May 12, 1937 ~ June 22, 2008
The world will never forget you.

Science Teacher Fired for Not Teaching Creationism

Dugg, News, School, Science No Comments

While I can believe this actually happened… it doesn’t mean it is right:

Chris Comer, a Science Teacher in Texas was Expelled for not teaching Intelligent Design in her science class. It’s a scary day indeed when our science teachers get fired for recognizing that creationism is not science.

I hope this lady fights this until she gets her job back.

Creationism is NOT science. Therefore it should NOT be taught in a science class… or anywhere for that matter. Leave it to the insane people to try and “spread the word.”
